A Perfect Week Day Escape: Aurora to Glenwood Springs

Sometimes the best trips are the ones that don’t require airports, passports, or complicated planning,  just a good playlist and an open road. Our getaway from Aurora to Glenwood Springs clocked in at under three hours, making it the perfect spontaneous escape into Colorado’s mountain charm.

Day 1: Historic Stays, Italian Flavors & Karaoke Nights

We checked into the Maxwell Anderson Hotel, a property steeped in history and character. From the moment we stepped inside, the decor transported us back in time , rich wood accents, vintage details, and that unmistakable sense that countless stories had unfolded within its walls. It felt less like a hotel and more like stepping into a beautifully preserved chapter of Glenwood Springs history.

Dinner that night was at Brava Italian Restaurant, where comforting classics and bold flavors set the tone for the weekend. Full and happy, we headed over to Native Son Bar, where karaoke night brought out the performers in all of us,  equal parts hilarious, bold, and unforgettable.

Day 2: Bakeries, Boutiques & Hot Springs Bliss

The next morning started at Daily Bread, a local favorite that absolutely lived up to the hype. Fresh pastries, hearty breakfasts, and cozy vibes fueled us for a leisurely stroll through Glenwood’s local shops,  perfect for a little retail therapy and discovering charming finds.

Then came the highlight of the trip: Iron Mountain Hot Springs. With steaming pools overlooking the Colorado River and surrounding cliffs, it was pure relaxation. The mineral-rich waters melted away every last bit of stress, one of those rare experiences where time truly slows down.

That evening we enjoyed a hearty dinner at Colorado Ranch House, followed by cocktails at the local watering holes Spirits & Doc Holliday’s. To close out the night, we returned to Native Son, this time swapping microphones for dance floors with a lively night of bachata.

Day 3: One Last Bite & Back Home

We couldn’t leave town without one more stop at Daily Bread,  it was just that good. After breakfast, we hit the road back to Aurora, relaxed, recharged, and already plotting our next mountain escape.
Glenwood Springs is the perfect blend of history, relaxation, nightlife, and small-town charm. Whether you’re soaking in hot springs, singing karaoke, or dancing bachata until midnight, it’s the kind of place that surprises you in the best ways and leaves you wanting more.
