Over the years, I’ve tried countless makeup removers for regular makeup and waterproof formulas alike. Yet every morning, I still woke up with raccoon eyes and sticky lashes.
At the time, I was already using jojoba oil as a hair product to add luster and shine, completely unaware of its other uses and benefits. Then I read a magazine article about its effectiveness as an eye and face makeup remover and decided to give it a try.
I’m sold.
If you decide to try it, be sure to purchase 100% pure jojoba oil intended for skin use, not the kind formulated specifically for hair. When applied with gentle, circular motions, eye makeup melts away quickly, leaving the eye area soft, moisturized, and surprisingly, without a greasy residue.
I personally don’t use it on my face because I have oily skin, and while jojoba oil is non-greasy, it’s still more moisture than my skin needs. That said, it may work beautifully for other skin types, including some oily ones. As always, everyone’s skin is different.
Jojoba oil is widely considered an excellent natural moisturizer and a healthy, chemical-free treatment for the skin. The downside is that it can be a bit pricey. However, many natural food stores run sales from time to time, when they do, I suggest stocking up. The good news is that a little goes a long way, so you won’t need to repurchase often.
I don’t have a favorite brand and honestly shop based on sale price, but none have disappointed me. Some oils are slightly thicker than others, but they all perform just as well. If you have a brand you swear by, I’d love to hear it.
In the meantime, give jojoba oil a try and let me know how it works for you. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.
